Joseph Ryan is a leader in opportunity creation, strategic development and project execution. His diverse 28-year career has prepared him to develop and motivate world-class teams and leverage their capabilities to foster organizational growth. Joe has a track record of delivering large-scale data centers, network operation centers, and sports and entertainment facilities, with methods including build-to-suit/design build and integrated project delivery (IPD). He applies proven organizational development and management strategies to define, develop, and lead corporate divisions with a common vision, exceeding all program performance objectives.
Before joining ConXtech, Joe was the Director of Data Center Development for the Americas and Global Director of Construction Technology for Microsoft.
Robert J. (Bob) Simmons
CTO, Chairman of the Board & Co-Founder
Mr. Simmons is the company’s Chief Technology Officer responsible for ConXtech’s product development strategy and R&D. Self employed since the age of 17, Mr. Simmons has spent a majority of his career in the structural concrete industry, focused primarily on design-build parking structures, mixed-use and mid- to high-rise residential markets. His structural concrete company, RJS & Associates (RJS), grew to employ over 400 full-time employees.
Under Mr. Simmons’ leadership, RJS has earned a stellar reputation in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as outlying areas working with most of the major national and regional developers operating in the Bay Area high-density residential market. A successful serial entrepreneur, he conceived the ConXtech system in 2000, after working for nearly a decade to develop alternative structural solutions for the mid-rise market which RJS serves. In 2004, he led the spin-off of ConXtech from RJS & Associates.
Donald (Don) M. Bernard
As President of ConXtech’s Industrial Division, Don Bernard has global responsibility for establishing strategic relationships and crafting highest value ConX solutions to meet growing demand for our structures in the industrial sector. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the offshore and process industry, and has held various executive level international business development positions within some of the largest global EPC firms. Don uniquely possesses the technical depth to understand inherent complexities of large-scale industrial projects – and create viable solutions that bring value to all stakeholders. He is also known in the industry for developing trusting and collaborative long-term relationships.
Prior to joining ConXtech, Don spent seven years at Dockwise, where he ultimately became the executive responsible for Engineering and Projects worldwide. Prior to that, Don served as Senior Vice President for Business Development for the Process Division of The Shaw Group’s Energy & Chemicals division which, through acquisition, became Shaw Stone & Webster. Prior to that, he was Commercial Vice President of Eastern Hemisphere Sales for The M.W. Kellogg Company in Houston, responsible for major Petrochemical and LNG projects worldwide. His additional roles at Kellogg included Vice President of Far East Sales and Sales Representative of Western Hemisphere Sales. In addition he held various project and engineering positions within process and technology groups. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston.
Howard M. Franklin
Mr. Franklin brings a unique combination of business, technical and construction experience to lead ConXtech’s financial team. Through previous experience, he has acquired a wide range of knowledge in organizational infrastructure; contracts; intellectual property; creating, administrating and documenting management information systems; customer support and training. Additionally he brings significant expertise in finance and accounting, including financial modeling, forecasting and data flow analysis. These operational skills are of particular value as the company transitions the ConXtech business model and organization to meet the growing demand for ConXtech’s innovative technologies.
Mr. Franklin also draws upon his experience as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for a federally registered investment advisory firm with $250M in assets under management. He is an entrepreneur, and invented and co-founded MegaWall Corporation which designed, patented, and manufactured an innovative concrete masonry wall-building system for the commercial and residential market which dramatically reduced construction time and delivered a lower cost solution.
Michel (Kelly) Luttrell
Senior Vice President, Business Development, Co-Founder
Ms. Luttrell, who co-founded ConXtech with Mr. Simmons, manages the Company’s business development, marketing, partnership and intellectual property activities. Before joining ConXtech, Ms. Luttrell served as Vice President of Security Technology and Solution Sales at Wave Systems Corporation. During her five-year tenure at Wave Systems she was responsible for sales and licensing of security software products to large corporations in the personal computer industry.
Prior to Wave Systems, Ms. Luttrell worked for Silicon Graphics Computer Systems for nine years in various marketing and sales roles. During this time, she served as the Strategic Account Manager for Silicon Graphic’s single largest customer. In the first three years in this role, Ms. Luttrell grew the account fourfold to over $60 million in annual revenues. Prior to Silicon Graphics, Ms. Luttrell was a Marketing Representative focused on the Manufacturing sector at IBM Corporation’s National Accounts Division. Ms. Luttrell obtained her B.S. in Environmental Design at the University of California, Davis.
Travis (TJ) Simmons
Senior Vice President, Production Operations
Mr. Simmons manages day-to-day field operations of ConXtech Construction. He and his team also interface with development, engineering and architectural teams to ensure a seamless flow from building concept to manufacturing through field assembly. Mr. Simmons has significant experience in construction project layout, operating sophisticated manufacturing equipment and manufacturing equipment specifications.
Over the past decade, Mr. Simmons has contributed this expertise to the construction of millions of square feet of residential and mixed-use, office and other structures valued at more than $180 million. Mr. Simmons was instrumental in the initial development of the ConX System. As a part of that effort, he produced the first CAD/CAM versions, built the prototype system components and tooling fixtures, managed outsourcing of the prototype and assembly, managed the design, fabrication and installation of the “test frame” and supervised ConX System testing. Mr. Simmons is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction.
Raymond G. Kitasoe
Vice President, Engineering Research & Testing
Mr. Kitasoe oversees the on-going refinement, testing and municipal & regulatory approval processes for the ConX System. Mr. Kitasoe has over 37 years of experience in the construction and high tech industries. His experiences include working for structural engineering firm H. J. Degenkolb as a Design Engineer, Advanced Micro Devices as a Financial Division Controller and various General Contractors/Developers as Project Manager. Mr. Kitasoe is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with honors, an M.S. in Structural Engineering & Structural Mechanics and an M.B.A. all from the University of California, Berkeley.
Adam L. Browne, S.E.
CSEO, Chief Structural Engineering Officer
As the CSEO, Mr. Browne is responsible for ConXtech’s standardized calculations and design methodologies. He also provides technical recommendations and guidance to outside engineering firms working with the ConX System.
Mr. Browne is a licensed California structural engineer with over 20 years of experience. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of California at Santa Cruz and studied structural engineering at San Francisco State University before joining the firm BFL/OWEN in 1994. He went on to work for Balfour Beatty as their chief engineer on the Golden Gate Bridge Northern Approach Viaduct Seismic Retrofit and California Engineering/Modern Continental’s chief engineer for the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Seismic Retrofit. Before joining ConXtech in 2012, Mr. Browne was the EOR at FBA and Associates, responsible for the structural design on the first 2 million square feet of ConX structure. There, he was integral in establishing acceptability of the framing system with various building departments and jurisdictions.
Senior Vice President, Sales & Support
Chris King is responsible for providing ConX solutions in the High-Density Residential, Hospitality, Healthcare, Institutional, Data Center and Office building market segments. Mr. King has spent the last 4 years at ConXtech with a sincere commitment for developing long-term industry relationships and providing extraordinary client interactions.
Over the past 15 years, Mr. King has had continuous achievement in progressive leadership roles at the forefront of customer-oriented product solutions and client success. Mr. King also manages the Company’s Estimating and Building Information Modeling (BIM) departments. Mr. King was instrumental in the creation of ConXtech’s seamless digital workflow process. As a part of that effort, he helped produce and refine our Engineering to Estimating digital workflow process, designed and implemented ConXtech’s CRM system, and implemented workflow improvements across various departmental activities.
