<h3>Degenkolb Engineers Honored with American Council of Engineering Award</h3>
<p><strong>Team Delivered “Space Faster and Cheaper, Producing Vision for Intellectual Openness.”</strong></p>
<p>On February 7, 2012, <a title="Degenkolb website" href="http://www.degenkolb.com/" target="_blank">Degenkolb Engineers&#8217;</a> structural team was presented the <a title="Go to ACEC Engineering Excellence Honor Award page" href="http://www.acec-ca.org/doc.asp?id=916&amp;parentid=12" target="_blank">American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)</a> Engineering Excellence Honor Award for Stanford University’s new <a title="See William H. Neukom Law Building" href="http://www.law.stanford.edu/school/campus/academic_building/" target="_blank">William H. Neukom Law Building</a>. Completed in May, 2011, the building is a $40 million, 65,000 square-foot, 3-story academic and office facility. Degenkolb Engineers used ConXtech’s <a title="See ConX Chassis Based Modular steel framing system" href="http://www.conxtech.com/conx-system/">ConXL Chassis Based Modular<sup>®</sup> steel framing system</a> for the project.<br />
<span id="more-3192"></span></p>
<p>The ConXL System was selected for its structural robustness and overall efficiency. “The building is efficient, smart, flexible, welcoming and was value-engineered to reduce overall environmental impact” notes Holly Razanno, SE, and a Principal at Degenkolb. “By using this trailblazing application, Degenkolb reduced the need for expensive and time-consuming field welding, providing an energy-efficient solution, significantly lowering associated costs, and reducing the need for labor in the field.” </div> <div class="onehalf onehalflast"> “This was the first application of ConXtech’s technology in a university environment in the United States, and we were honored to have Stanford be the first” states Kelly Luttrell, ConXtech’s, Co-Founder and VP Business Development.</p>
<p>For years, ConXtech has worked closely with Stanford, hosting students and professors from the University’s Engineering, Architectural Design and Construction Management departments, at ConXtech’s R&amp;D and Manufacturing facility in Hayward. Luttrell continues “In addition to working with entire classes at Stanford, we have participated on many levels with Stanford’s Center for Integrated Facilities Management (CIFE), and their pioneering team. It was particularly meaningful to work with a highly regarded firm such as Degenkolb, in bringing our building technology to a University at the forefront of innovation.”</p>
<p>The project, designed by <a title="Ennead Architects website" href="http://ennead.com/" target="_blank">Ennead Architects</a>, satisfies the equivalent of a LEED® Gold Certification by meeting key sustainability requirements in the areas of site planning, water management, energy use, materials, resources, waste, indoor environmental quality, innovation and design. Advanced BIM modeling was used to create a direct manufacturing interface to ConXtech’s highly automated factory, which significantly streamlined design, fabrication and delivery. </div></p>

<h3>PROJECT NARRATIVE</h3>
<p>Kaiser Permanente is expanding the existing medical office building facility in San Marcos, California adding an additional 71,794 square foot 3-story facility directly adjacent to the current building. The building has a contemporary design with curtain wall and glass exterior and an significant exposed steel awning. The structure including trellis were erected in just 12 days, with the remaining decking, misc. metals and concrete fill completed over the subsequent 13 days.</p>

The ConX Digital Chassis is rapidly created and analyzed early on in the project, allowing the architect to define the body/shell around the structural chassis, and other trades to fit to the chassis with standard modular connections.</p>

<p><strong>Water Processing Plant on Central California Oil Field</strong><br />
ConXtech has an ideal solution for Pipe Rack and Processing structures. Safe and rapid to erect, ConXtech’s modular approach brings efficiencies in cost and materials. The brace free and structurally robust ConXR System made it possible to design for the worst case scenario, and then fabricate and erect the structure before the piping layout/design was finalized. Other modular pipe rack components designed and provided by ConXtech will be integrated into the structure as the project progresses.</p>

<p>The Owner’s Senior Project Manager estimates that utilizing the ConX System will save their company 1 year off of an otherwise 4 year schedule. Starting production in this oil field one year earlier makes the ROI measurable and significant.</p>
